Using the guidelines below, please consider what significant risks there are to both those building up your trade stand and visitors to the show. Outline in the form below the steps you propose to take to minimise any risks you identify. Once you have completed the form, please click "submit" to send to the team before the event. 
General hazards Who might be harmed? Is more needed to control the risk?
Look for only hazards which you would expect to result in significant harm under the conditions in your stand space during build up, knock down and during the show itself.
There is no need to list individuals by name, think about groups of people doing similar work or who might be affected. 

For the hazards listed , do the precautions you have already taken: 


Use the following examples as a guide:

• Slipping and tripping
• Manual handling
• Vehicles
• Chemicals
• Working at height
• Pressure systems
• Moving parts of machinery guarded
• Electricity
• Fumes
• Noise
• Fire Hazard eg : combustible materials (rubbish, flammable substances, LPG etc)
• Ignition sources (flames, smoking etc) 
These might include: 

• Stand construction and break down teams
• Sales staff
• Contractors
• Operators
• Maintenance Personnel

Pay particular attention to:

• Visitors
• Those with disabilities
• Inexperienced staff


• Meet the standards set by legal requirements?
• Comply with a recognised industry standard
• Represent good practice?
• Reduce risk as far as reasonably practicable?











Important Reminders

• All exhibitors must wear appropriate clothing during set up and breakdown
• Visual Displays must allow for viewing on the stands so as not to block the aisles.
• Please no protrusions into the aisles or walkways – you have your stand area please keep to it.
• Prior authorisation will be required to operate moving mechanical displays.
• Outdoor stand holders are required to provide a fire extinguisher.
• Alcohol must be purchased and consumed within the bar area.
• Please attach your current public liability insurance to the email containing this risk assessment

The Organisers and the East of England Showground cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to stands, exhibits, property or equipment. Exhibitors are responsible for insuring against any legal liability incurred in respect of injury or damage to persons or property belonging to themselves or third parties. In addition to this, exhibitors should protect expenditures against abandonment and cancellation or curtailment of the event due to reasons beyond our control.
